Singer Featherweight Work Stand Pattern provide basic instructions, drawings and templates to build a Singer Featherweight Work Stand.  The materials listed are what were used to produce the prototype batch.  A woodworker could produce a beautiful polished piece or a 3D printer could use the drawings to build an assembled model and print it as one piece.  This pattern comes as a pdf download.

The FW Work Stand is made to hold a Singer Featherweight upside down so that the hidden working surfaces can be inspected and maintained.  This work stand allows the handwheel to be rotated 360° in the inverted position so the hidden parts can be inspected while moving.

The work stand has four parts: base, saddle, boss and crutch.  The boss locates the machine frame by the hole under the spool pin.  The spool pin plate must be removed to put the machine on the work stand.  The boss is screwed to the saddle.  The saddle aligns the machine between two arms and the boss.  The saddle is screwed to the base.  The base provides clearance between the machine and the supporting surface.  The crutch is a loose spacer that is placed between the sewing table and the base on the motor side of the machine.  This stabilizes the machine on the work stand and allows access to most any part of the machine.  If the electric motor is removed, the crutch is usually not needed.
