How to Figure the Cost of Cookies-Painlessly

Calculating the cost of cookies can be challenging with ingredients sold in random quantities and a variety of units of measure.  The units used in recipes are often different than the units stores sell.  Maybe eggs are an exception.

When you need to see how much a batch of cookies is going to cost and document the nuts and bolts of the recipe, this Cookie Calculator can help.

Most of the entries are drop down menus, number entries or copy and paste.

There is a "Purchasing" section to put what you buy, the ingredients, the cost per package, the package units and the amount of units per package.

There is a "Production" section to put in the amount per recipe and the units the recipe uses for each ingredient.  Maybe it should be the "Recipe" section.

There is a section to save the baking steps and the direct labor time for each one – or not.  There is a direct labor rate in a green cell that can be adjusted as needed.

A small section for packaging and labeling materials as well as packaging and labeling labor is included.

The Calculator provides Direct Labor sub-totals, Batch cost, cost per cookie and cost per dozen.

If you plan to sell cookies or donate a significant amount, it is good to know the cost.  You can't budget without a reliable cost.
